Treat coin and network as one instruction
A token can share a name across several blockchains. For example, a stablecoin might be available on Ethereum, Tron, Solana, or another network. Each version uses different transaction rules, address formats, fees, and explorers.
That is why a safe deposit instruction has two parts: the asset and the chain. “Send USDT” is incomplete. “Send USDT on the specified network to this address” is the useful instruction.
Match both sides before you copy the address
Look at the receiving screen first. It should name the asset and network. Then open the withdrawal or send screen in your own wallet or exchange and select the same network before pasting the address.
Some networks use similar-looking addresses, especially among Ethereum-compatible chains. Similar format does not prove compatibility. A 0x address can appear on several networks, so the selected chain—not the prefix alone—controls where the transaction is broadcast.
Use a deliberate first transfer
For a new destination, check the first and last characters of the copied address against the source. A small test transfer can reduce the impact of a mistake when the route minimum and fees make it practical.
Do not use an address from a previous route, an old chat, or a screenshot. Generate or open the active instruction again and use the network shown there. Blockchain transactions are normally irreversible once confirmed.
If you are unsure, pause
Do not guess based on a ticker, a wallet logo, or a friend’s experience. Go back to the receiving route and compare every label. If a network is unavailable in your sending wallet, choose a route that both sides support instead of selecting a close substitute.
Support can help interpret a route status or public transaction reference, but no legitimate support team can make an incompatible network compatible after the fact. The safest recovery strategy is preventing the mismatch.
